Week 10, Give Thanks and Say Amen for BistroMD

Praying-Hands-2What up world!! It’s the young soldier Frank C. from Fat Man Unleashed. Here to give another status report of my time on the battle ground with BistroMD. Things have been rough these last couple of weeks. With so much work to do in my day I find myself overwhelmed at times. For a moment I thought of slowing down or giving up. I had a slight relapse but it didn’t last long. I have to thank God for putting the right people in my life to pull me through.

The stress from work and home can be a big downer for all of us. If you’re married with children then you can understand how I feel. With all this stress overloading our lives, it’s hard to do the right thing all the time. The right thing would be to not miss my workouts, not cheat on my diet, stay active, and get all my business taken care of. Usually I’m on point but something came over me, and I found myself back sliding.

While on a family visit this past week I saw a cousin of mine who had some unpleasing news. She had recently been diagnosed with Rheumatoid arthritis (RA), which is an autoimmune disease that causes chronic inflammation of the joints. Autoimmune diseases are illnesses that arise when the body’s tissues are attacked by their own immune system. In this case her bones are losing essential minerals, and are experiencing a decrease in density.

This cousin of mine has always been fit and healthy. She is the last person you would ever think to have a problem like this. According to Wikipedia, “About 1% of the world’s population is afflicted by rheumatoid arthritis. Onset is most frequent between the ages of 40 and 50”, but she is only in her early 30’s! I thought to myself, “How could she, out of all people, end up with such an illness?!” Then I thought of a better question, “How can I as a man in good health, not fight my hardest through this battle? How could I slack when there are people in the world who would love to push through with 100%, but are not able to due to physical ailments?”

My cousin reminded me of how blessed I am to have BistroMD on my side and that I am in good health. I have so much to be thankful for! I have so many people I’m fighting for! This war is way bigger than me, there or so many people out there who wish to be in my shoes, and are physically incapable of doing so. For those people I must fight hard every day, I can’t take for granted the blessing BistroMD has given me. I can’t let myself down, I can’t my family down, I can’t let you down, I can’t let BistroMD down, and I won’t.

So with all that said, I want to thank every staff member who is BistroMD. I want to thank the ones I have gotten to know, like Rebecca Wells for believing in me, Christy Shatlock my dietitian for motivating me, Amanda Roebuck for her talented stories of me, and most of all Dr. Cederquest for developing BistroMD and giving me this chance. Above all I have to thank God. Because as much as I would love to take credit for all the good in my life, the truth is that these blessings are far greater than anything I could have every planned. I understand the seriousness in this war against obesity, and I will not allow myself to give anything less than my best.

About the Author

Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Frank Cruz. I am a former fat man who’s almost completely unleashed. I had an appetite that could not be satisfied. Four years ago I stepped on the scale, and was blown away when I saw the shocking number: 298. On January 1st, 2009 I decided to make a real change and I mean, mind, body, and soul. From that day forth I was on a mission to lose this weight. Something switched deep in my subconscious; I saw myself like a new man. That’s when the real change began, when my mind and soul won the battle over my body. Today I invite you to join me on a mission to transform your lives. This is truly a difficult task, but one that can be accomplished. I know how to do this; I have the road map to success!! Come and join me, and you too can be UNLEASHED.

  42. Thanks for the insight. There are definitely people in this world who are worse off then we are and we should be blessed.
