Taste Test: Edy’s Tart Honey Yogurt Blends

If I had known beforehand that Edy’s Tart Honey Yogurt Blend would cause such a ruckus….well, I would have bought it anyway. My Taste Test Crew got bent out of shape and took sides as opinions flared in the heated discussion over whether this frozen yogurt is good or gross. Tart Honey is a new, weird-named flavor in Edy’s line of Slow Churned Yogurt Blends.

Edy’s Slowchurned Tart Honey Yogurt Blends

But what the heck are Yogurt Blends? It’s Edy’s collection of “cultured frozen dairy desserts using a unique crafting process that gives you incredibly rich flavor and a creamy texture.” Yogurt Blends are packed with live and active cultures, just like the regular yogurt you eat for breakfast, which I happen to despise. I’m not an authority on the frozen kind, but I do take pride in my greedy taste buds because they know what’s good. I chose Tart Honey because it sounds bizarre and I had a coupon.

The Taste Test
If plain yogurt isn’t your style you might go into shock on the first bite, but the golden honey swirls will mesmerize and lure you into multiple spoonfuls. Tart Honey gets more and more delicious with each bite. The smooth, creamy texture has unmistakable yogurt flavor with a pleasant tartness that is complimented by sweet honey swirls. Some of the Taste Test Crew complained of an aftertaste, but it’s the tasty kind that makes you want more. Can I eat this for breakfast?

At only 100 calories per 1/2 cup, Edy’s Tart Honey is a guilt-free go-to snack for any time of day or night. It’s unique. It’s scrumptious. I’m buying more. Now go get some and eat up!

Reactions from the Taste Test Crew
Health-hater HusbandWhy not just eat regular yogurt? It’s the same thing. I like yogurt, but this tastes like crap. The aftertaste is horrendous.

Greedy Kid #1I like it! Wait…..I hate it. The aftertaste is not very pleasant. It won’t go away.

Greedy Kid #2I love the honey swirls. This stuff is good. If you don’t want yours can I have it?

It’s obvious that Greedy Kid #2 and I have the more sophisticated taste buds. If you’re not bold enough try Tart Honey or you chose to side with the nay-sayers, at least give another flavor a try. Chocolate Fudge Brownie Yogurt Blend is a chocolate lover’s dream that tastes more like ice cream, and it’s only 120 calories for a 1/2 cup!

Yum Up! to: Eating Tart Honey for breakfast.

Yuck Down! to: People with unsophisticated taste buds.

This sounds pretty good. Another legit option would be to get some Stonyfield Organics plain yogurt and throw in some frozen fruit (blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, banana slices are all good).

You could also get some raw organic honey (the solid-at-room-temperature stuff) and mix in just a bit to create a similar effect to the Edy’s stuff for a presumably lower cost.

Frozen yogurt Tart Honey sounds delicious!! I must pick this up next time I am in the supermarket.

Yogurt can be quite yucky or bland to eat for breakfast, but what I like to do is I get The Oikos Greek yogurt, plain, and add some vanilla almond granola and fruit to liven it up and give it some flava!

Frozen yogurt sure is such a treat- and keeps you low on your calorie intake- I must try some ASAP! Thanks for this, and I will be sure to let you know what my taste buds think!

  4. Thank you for sharing. Tart Honey sounds like a very interesting flavor. I think I’ll have to muster up the courage to try it. I’m currently having a love affair with Stonyfield Organics plain yogurt mixed with frozen rasberries.

  11. Herein lies the problem. You need to start thinking outside the box here for a second. Everyone has been this eating this low fat, low calorie diet for the past 20 years and obesity still continues to rise at even faster rates. Obviously it isn’t working. You should be cutting out these sugar filled processed foods and get some good fats in your diet. If it wasn’t around 10,000 years ago then don’t eat it. Caveman wasn’t fat and he wasn’t eating low fat or low calorie.

  12. Tart honey that makes Josie hungry, I so want to try it. Hemm … certainly delicious and healthful yes…

My husband and I are trying to lose weight. We discovered yogurt blends and are sold! We love the chocolate fudge brownie flavor and cookies and cream (the store near us don’t have the tart honey flavor, but I dont think I would go for that anyway). Every night we have our yogure blends and savor it! Even though 1/2 cup doesn’t sounds like much, you get used to it. We use glass sundae glasses (like the kind they have at soda fountains). They hold 1/2 cup and the glass is full! You feel like you got more and the yogurt blends are so creamy and tasty we feel like we a re cheating! We haven’t noticed digestive problems or aftertaste either.
