Started Out Good, but Ended with a Bad Cheat Meal

I woke up this morning with an sense of urgency. A sense of urgency to get up and get some cardio in before I started my day. I accomplished that mini goal by hopping on my recumbent bike for an hour. I was proud of myself for managing to get another cardio session in first thing in the morning. It’s becoming a comfortable habit. That’s a good thing. Now enter the culprit / cheat meal enabler: Outback Steakhouse!

So for a majority of the day I was ecstatic. Things were going smooth. Then I get home and it’s time for dinner. Gulp! My wife didn’t know what to prepare, and I wasn’t much help. She mentioned that she received a couple of gift cards to Outback Steakhouse and that one of them was a year old. My immediate thought was to use them as soon as possible, and that’s what we did. I guess this can qualify as my cheat meal?

I booted up my trusty lap top and scanned through their online menu. We chose to have baby back ribs for out cheat meal… They were slamming! Finger licking good. That’s where the day turned out bad. I ate the whole thing with no remorse. None what so ever. The ribs, the fries, even the apple side dish thingy they give you. I don’t feel guilty and I don’t want to kill myself, but I suppose I feel I need to work a bit harder to work it off. That’s all though.

Should I care more about what my cheat meal consists of? I see it as a pebble in the road that made me trip. All I need to do is get back up and keep walking.

Is that a good thing?

I had gained 9 kgs in the last 3 months or so. I shifted to full time internet business and it resulted me some fat and money. I need the money and not the fat. I still haven’t started any exercises for slimming

It depends how many cheat meals you have per week?
But if it’s reasonable, then of course you should eat without guilt, otherwise don’t have cheat meal if it’s for feeling guilty right after!
In the program I’m following there is one cheat meal every 12 days, I think it is not enough, one per week would be easier, BUT when it’s time for my cheat meal, I really binge like there’s no tomorrow πŸ™‚
After I’m full and eat a lot less the rest of the day.
I choose to have my cheat meal early afternoon and surely not at night, because I’m eating a lot and junk food!

Don’t beat yourself up over it. It’s not like you had a Big Mac with large fries. It was a healthy meal, little heavy on calories, but a clean meal.

Not like me. I had gone 2 weeks with no sugar and I shared half a bag of Oreos with my two son’s Saturday night πŸ™

Don’t beat yourself up. Like Shawn said, it was relatively healthy compared to what you could be eating.

Tastes a lot better than the example that he gave, too…

  5. Everyone needs a once-a-week cheat.
If you’re going to cheat, just try to keep the carbs to a minimum…that would be as simple as subbing the fries (or halving them) for a side salad.

Another hint…eat the cheat within an hour after you workout…you’ll still be really anabolic, so a load of combined fat and protein will do your body some good every once in a while.

This is my first visit to your blog. I can’t imagine what you’ve gone through to lose the pounds you’ve already lost. I suppose one cheat meal now and then won’t hurt, but be mindful not to let those cheat meals get closer together until you fall off the wagon completely. I have seen it happen, and it’s so easy to do. Good luck to you!

  7. I think you shouldn’t worry about it much. You did the hardest part and now you can go a bit slower to your perfect weight.

I remember when I had cheat meals, those were always the days when I felt confident in my success so I could afford a big juicy meal from time to time. Yummy!
